Museums of London: the Grant Museum of Zoology

This week the Grant Museum re-opened in a new location, although if you were to visit the new venue and didn't know it was a new venue, it wouldn't be at all obvious. Housed in an Edwardian library, a double-height room with a balcony on the second level, it feels as though the collection had [...]

I have not blogged about Things

I keep going to exhibitions just as they're finishing, so it's always too late to tell anyone else about them. And lately I've been going to see exhibitions that have allowed me to take photos, so I've taken photos. And then I've posted them on Flickr, but neglected to even mention them on my blog. And it was pointed out to me that I'd neglected the blog quite a lot, so here's the first of some posts about exhibitions you can no longer go to.

Meet Sunday George who went off to have an adventure…

a visit to Mayfield

A couple of weeks ago, I went to Mayfield Lavender Farm in Banstead. In the 18th and 19th centuries, this part of England was the centre of the world's lavender production, before urbanisation and cheap French imports did for it, so it's nice to have some back again in the same area. knee high to a grasshopper

The day after I went to Bekonscot it was the Lates night at the Science Museum, and I got to see my stitched self on display, along with 258 others…

mini-me at the Science Museum

This Wednesday there's a Science Museum Lates event, for the launch of the new Who Am I? gallery, where you'll be able to see mini-me, on display with lots of other self-portrait dolls

meet you at the cemetery gates

The day after All Stitched Up, some friends and I went to the Nunhead Cemetery open day.

morbid museums

I must apologise. Things have kind of fallen into the moat here at Mondo Towers (NB: this is just a clever turn of phrase. I don't actually have a moat. Or live in a tower). There are lots of things I've neglected to write about lately, possibly because I've been busy actually doing them, but I feel like I should at least mention some of them here. So this is the first of a few (long) catch-up posts. This one's mostly about MORBID DETH and body parts. (I'd like to promise that the others aren't going to be so gruesome — but I can't as at least one other upcoming post is about MORBID DETH too.)

Moments In Time

I only found out about the A Moment In Time project about 10 minutes after it was supposed to happen, but I decided to take part anyway, partly because it would give me something good to take for 'Roid Week as well. So here's the view through my window on a rainy day. I love [...]
