Thought this might be a fun new game. Some people are so distinctive you can recognise them from one small feature. So can you recognise any of these…?

    I think David Niven is the one with the moustache (top row, middle). Not really sure about any of the others – mainly because I'm hopeless at names. Conversations about characters in TV/films involve a lot of "you know, thingy – played whatsit in that others show… can't remember the name of that either"

    Having said that – I generally remember that Gregory Peck was supposed to be a dishy one, so I'll guess bottom left. Therefore that would leave the remaining male Donald O'Connor middle row left.

    I don't know where to start on the women. I feel I should know Kim Novak and Shirley Maclaine, but I'd really be guessing completely randomly.

    @Seb, you got all the fellas. So far everyone else guessing (on Flickr and Livejournal) has been guessing pretty randomly too. Partly it's because the mosaic maker doesn't crop the image in the perfect place.

    Kim Novak seems to often be described as "icy" or "frosty" if that helps.

    @Rooney, I suggest you watch more old movies. Start with some of these:
